4 Signs That It Is Time For A Break

Hey Wanders!!

I wandered my way all the way to Jamaica last weekend and I am so happy I did. I had a blast! I came back feeling refreshed and with a burst of creative energy.

My friend invited me last minute to accompany her to Jamaica for carnival weekend in Kingston. This was my first time flying into Kingston in probably close to ten years. Being that my mom is from Jamaica, I used to travel there often when I was younger. However, I decided once I was old enough to go on vacation by myself, my fancy azz would be staying in resorts from there on out! No shade to family, but if you have family from another country you know what its like to have to bring a whole extra suitcase with goods and clothes in it to distribute to your family abroad. In addition, coming home with one outfit out of the 58 that you packed because…family distribution. So yeah, I decided that I no longer needed that kind of stress in my life.

This past weekend my friends and I rented an airbnb in Portmore (not far from Kingston). The pictures on the airbnb listing did not do the place any justice. The place was so clean, neat, and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. If you do decide to stay here though, please note that you absolutely need to rent a car or have a driver on deck.

Since our Airbnb had a full kitchen we decided to go grocery shopping and my friend chef’d up some authentic Jamaican dishes. I was in heaven. We also visited Hellshire Beach in Portmore which is where the locals go for fresh, good as hell Jamaican seafood dishes. I swear I felt like I died and gone to heaven. Ya’ll know I love me some beach and salt water. However, this isn’t the beach you wanna swim in. Just go for the food and vibes.

Carnival weekend in any country or at least the Caribbean ones I’ve been to, are always filled with parties and events. I can’t lie we were mores out there for all the parties and events that come along with Carnival which entailed lots of dancing and lots of alcohol! I was only there for two (2) full days and I felt like I was there for a week! That’s how you know it was fun!

The Real Reason I Took This Trip

Let me be 100% honest, before I impulsively decided to take this trip my energy was low, my anxiety was kicking in, my emotions were all over the place, and I felt like I needed a break. This happens to all of us, life can be overwhelming at times. I am grateful that my friend thought to invite me away with her. The break was very necessary.

Here are four signs that it is time to take a break:

  1. Work is starting to feel overwhelming.
  2. You feel confused about an issue and need to clear your head.
  3. You need alone time with your bae or close friend so that you can reconnect.
  4. You are saying yes to everyone and everything except yourself.

Every time I travel I meet myself a little more. Sometimes you have to leave all your cities to fall in love.

Do not get me wrong, not everyone has money or reward points to book a trip to Jamaica every time they feel down, but this is just a reminder that everyone needs a break outside of their environment to replenish sometimes. It worked for me and a guarantee it will work for you.

  2. Your life seems so adventurous and spontaneous!

I must admit that I agree with you. When traveling/visiting your country, what you bring, whether clothes, money, jewelry, scarves, you’ll definitely not be retuning home with them. NOPE!

Lol, resorts are definitely your best bet! I love my family though. 🙂

  3. Good day! This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and tell you I really enjoy reading your articles. Can you suggest any other blogs/websites/forums that deal with the same subjects? Thanks for your time!
